Legal & Compliance Manager

Duties and responsibilities

I. Key Responsibilities:

Legal Compliance

  • Oversee and ensure legal compliance across all entities and locations in Vietnam.
  • Keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local and national regulations.
  • Coordinating with customs brokers and third‑party contractors on import and export declaration filings for Vietnam to ensure full customs compliance.
  • Support ISO and fire safety (PCCC) assessments.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors on disputes, litigation, and arbitration matters.
  • Maintain records and reporting for ongoing cases, including updates to regional teams.

Business Partnership & Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to leadership and internal teams on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Support cross-functional projects and commercial initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary legal contact within the assigned markets.

Licensing and Permits

  • Manage the process of obtaining and renewing licenses, permits, and registrations for Company operations in Vietnam across all products.
  • Maintain comprehensive database of all licenses and permits, ensuring they are updated.
  • Handling proper year end closure of customs related documentation for all products.

Land Use Rights

  • Handle land use right-related matters, including lease agreements and land title issues.
  • Collaborate with relevant authorities and landowners to resolve any land-related disputes or issues.

Contract Management

  • Prepare, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including vendor contracts, service agreements, and partnerships.
  • Ensure that contracts align with legal requirements and mitigate potential risks to the company.

Government Relations

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for legal and compliance matters when dealing with external stakeholders.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all legal and compliance-related documents and correspondence.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on legal and compliance activities and developments.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Law or a related field; legal certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Legal and Compliance Manager or similar role.
  • 7-10 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Vietnamese laws, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and Vietnamese.

Working conditions

Location: Valency Vietnam International Trading Co, Lot C9, Street 14, Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Hiep Phuoc Commune, Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City

Working Days:- Monday to Friday (Full day) and Saturday (Half Day)
