2. Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
- Conduct Environmental & Social due diligence for potential clients, partners, and projects.
- Assess risks related to:
- Labor practices
- Land use
- Occupational Health & Safety (OHS)
- Environmental impacts
- Community relations
- Recommend mitigation strategies and corrective actions where risks are identified.
3. Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Vietnamese environmental laws, labor codes, and safety regulations.
- Align projects with IFC Performance Standards and lender-specific Environmental & Social requirements.
- Prepare periodic ESMS performance reports for senior management, investors, lenders, and regulators.
- Maintain databases of Environmental & Social risks, monitoring results, and grievance cases.
- Monitor and report greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction and avoided emissions from our client’s projects.
4. Monitoring & Evaluation
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and audits to verify compliance with ESMS standards.
- Track Environmental & Social Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for solar projects and corporate operations.
- Oversee corrective actions and continuous improvement plans.
- Monitor contractors and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) providers to ensure compliance with our client’s E&S policies.
5. Capacity Building & Training
- Design and deliver ESMS training programs for internal teams (credit, sales, operations, engineering, etc.).
- Provide guidance and training to contractors, suppliers, and project partners.
- Promote a culture of sustainability and Environmental & Social awareness across the organization.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Grievance Handling
- Manage stakeholder engagement processes, including community consultations when required.
- Serve as the company’s point of contact for Environmental & Social matters with lenders, auditors, regulators, and industry associations.
7. Climate & Sustainability Initiatives
- Support the registration and trading of environmental attribute certificates (e.g., RECs, carbon credits).
- Research and evaluate sustainability-linked loans and green finance instruments for our client’s projects.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in:
- Environmental Science
- Engineering
- Sustainability
- Social Sciences
- or a related field.
Preferred Skills
- 3–5 years of professional experience in Environmental & Social management, compliance, or sustainability (renewable energy experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Vietnam’s Environmental & Social laws and regulatory framework.
- Familiarity with sustainability standards and frameworks (IFC, SDGs, etc.).
- Strong report writing, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver ESG-related training programs.
- Experience working with investors, lenders, auditors, and regulators.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to influence and train others.
- Proactive, resourceful, and committed to sustainability principles.
- Willingness to travel to nearby provinces for project site inspections.
- Fluency in English.
